Passion Pit

“Passion Pit Sign To Frenchkiss, Wow Pitchfork With Debut EP”
Cambridge-based pop crew Passion Pit have signed to Frenchkiss Records, the home to Brooklyn art punks Les Savy Fav and San Francisco folk-rock duo The Dodos. The band is currently preparing its debut EP for the label. Chunk of Change, due September 16th, serves as a brief but effective introduction to the madcap pop sensibilities of prime Pitter Michael Angelakos, the creator of what Pitchfork calls “a glistening array of woozy textures that call to mind both the atmospheric twee-scapes of A Sunny Day in Glasgow and the ecstatic seaside fantasias of Air France.” Play the track, “Sleepyhead,” a shimmering bounce-off that calls to mind the bubbly synth work of Giorgio Moroder and the wide-eyed optimism of Cloud Cult.
Playing as a five piece live, Passion Pit has already blown away audiences opening up for Death Cab For Cutie, Girl Talk, These New Puritans and more. Also winning the WFNX/Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll as the Best New Local Act of 2008, Passion Pit hopes to bring their soulful dance explosion to your town this fall.
“I dont know about you guys out there, but the first time I listened to MGMT’s Oracular Spectacular, I fell head over heels for it. It had a sound so fresh that everyone seemed to connect with it. I have a feeling we wont be getting any new material any time too soon, but the next best thing I have to offer is Passion Pit. Sleepyhead makes me feel anything but sleepy. Its a crazy, sharp, electronic-pop track that Im sure will soon be sending legs crazy this year. Most definitely a big recommendation from me.”—Waves At Night
